Quarry House AB design studio, inc

ab design studio

"The house reflects the artistic and Zen qualities of the area's past – a place once inhabited by a collective of bohemian poets, writers and artists – by maintaining original elements and reusing stones found on-site," the team said. Honouring the area's creative and spiritual heritage was a guiding factor for the design team, along with retaining the large boulders that dot the property. By ingeniously blending a neutral palette, warm accents, luxurious finishes, modern tiles, statement lighting, and inviting furnishings, an interiors masterpiece emerges as our designer skillfully intertwined elements to forge a quintessential California Coastal aesthetic. The team also expanded an existing deck, which now wraps around the entire house. The project also involved major changes to the landscape, including the removal of a rear driveway, which allowed for the addition of a fire pit and lawn.

ARCHITECTURAL Project Designer

We focus on creating healthy environments that inspire, enhance, and enrich people's lives. In a time of climate change, to succeed, our designs must use energy efficiently and minimize their carbon footprint. We must source materials wisely, mindful of how they were produced and their impact on human health, while embracing new trends such as mass-timber framing and prefab construction. Because it’s inherently greener, we must encourage adaptive re-use whenever possible. We seek out, manage and combine elements of our client's program, budgets and design intentions while collaborating early and often with clients, contractors and the entire building team to maximize collaboration and innovation.

Firm Bio

AB design studio is a diverse group of architects, designers and builders who believe in the opportunity to make a difference through design. A classic modernist cabin from the 1950’s was transformed into a soulful retreat for an Interior Designer and her family. The original home, designed by famed Santa Barbara architect Lutah Maria Riggs, was a 2-bedroom, 1 bath home that was expanded and remodeled from foundation to roof. The result is a 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath main residence and 2-bedroom, 1 bath guest house each equipped with relaxing and inviting living spaces for the Owners and their guests to enjoy.

At AB design, it’s our culture and continual refrain,  "Listen - Strategize - Create - Deliver." But we’re talking about a deeper, more intentional, and multifaceted kind of listing that’s fundamental to AB design studio design process — a special awareness - a special kind of listening. Santa Barbara's AB Design Studio was tasked with remodelling and enlarging a 1954 house that was in disrepair, including a subpar foundation made of stone rubble. In this collaborative studio environment, each team member brings their unique expertise and passion, resulting in a seamless marriage of concept, brand, and space. Our dedication to delivering exceptional service and a high level of craftsmanship is evident in every project we undertake. Our multi-disciplinary approach addresses technical, ecological, social, cultural and aesthetic concerns.

The Architect team worked with the Client to create stepped pathways, outdoor dining enclaves and play areas within a central garden courtyard that connects the home to a new pool and guest house. The guest home addition includes expansive decks that connect to the pool area and increase the livability of the home and property. Instead of adding more living space to the main house, the guest house serves as additional living space and bedrooms for their use.

The site work, swimming pool and new landscaping were completed in a delicate balancing act with careful respect to the existing vegetation, rock formations and oak trees that predominate the site.

In the guesthouse, the team placed a bedroom, bathroom, living room and an office. In both buildings, large windows offer immersive views of the surrounding oak forest. "The dwelling features expertly detailed and well-appointed interiors, including bright rooms with birch-veneered ceilings, custom cabinetry and woodwork, and hand-selected furniture," the team said.

This interior design triumph stands as a tribute to California's coastal allure, a testament to the designer's skillful orchestration. Through a careful balance of elements, a home emerged that epitomizes the essence of coastal living—an abode that doesn't merely capture the beauty of the coastline but also weaves it intricately into the very fabric of the design. At AB design studio, we understand that great design is not just about aesthetics, but also about functionality and purpose. Our hands-on approach allows us to truly understand our clients' needs and aspirations, resulting in spaces that are not only visually stunning but also highly functional and tailored to their specific requirements.

Oversized windows and glass doors dissolved into surrounding vistas, intertwining nature with design. Reflective surfaces mirrored the lush surroundings, while rich woods evoked driftwood treasures. Modern tiles, reminiscent of sun-kissed sands, manifested a tactile connection to the beach. Chandeliers suspended like constellations and pendant lights emulating glistening seashells added enchantment to every corner.

We’re experienced with green-building rating systems like LEED and the Living Building Challenge, and as a California firm long operating under Title 24, sustainable design principles are second-nature. At AB, we’ve seen early techniques like daylighting and natural ventilation can combine with a wide array of contemporary digital 3D design tools like BIM [Building Information Modeling] to produce smart, efficient, budget-conscious and sustainable buildings. Our rigorous design process explores context-based solutions that creatively re-assess what a built environment can provide for its users and the future. AB design studio believes that creativity reaches well beyond the arts to affect disciplines in various industries.

Our design-visualization process allows us to test ideas and generate concepts quickly, allowing the project team to present a variety of options to the client. Once a design is formalized, we work closely with government agencies to negotiate the permitting process and make the project happen. Once ground is broken, we’re in continuous contact and collaboration with the building team. Utilizing innovative techniques and thoughtful use of materials we explore the potential of each design to translate it into practical, responsible, and buildable projects.

Problem-solving isn't an ability; it's a mindset that drives people to proactively shape their environments. AB design studio strives to unleash explorative context-based designs that allow us to creatively reassess what a built environment can provide for its users and the future. We believe that creativity reaches well beyond the arts to affect disciplines in various industries. Problem solving isn't an ability, it's a mindset that drives people to proactively shape their environments. The Project Manager leads the studio teams using the Firm’s Design Process to research, explore and generate successful design solutions. Harmony of the Seas Cruise Ship Scorecard Review

harmony cruise boat

Cruisers on the Royal Caribbean Drink Package can even test out some experimental potions at the Wonderland Bar on Deck 12, with no restaurant reservations required! Of course, for our Harmony of the Seas cruise ship review, we made sure to stop at each bar at least once for a signature drink. This 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary included 4 ports of call and two full sea days.

Specialty Restaurants

All suites include a private walk-out balcony where you can enjoy “suite treats” delivered to you each evening and take in the breathtaking views. With 18 decks, 24 restaurants, 23 pools and whirlpools, 2,747 staterooms and suites, a massive casino, and hundreds of onboard activities, Harmony of the Seas stands out for the variety it offers. Even cabins in the ship's lowest category are thoughtfully designed and comfortable, with space for relaxing and plenty of storage. The ship's 3-deck Quantum Dining Room is designed as three separate restaurants situated on different decks - American Icon Grill (Deck 3), The Grand (Deck 4) and The Chic (Deck 5). Harmony also includes some Quantum restaurants, such as Sabor Modern Mexican, Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine, Coastal Kitchen.

The ship has a modern propulsion system consisting of 2x azimuth thrusters ("Z-drives") manufactured by Veth (Holland). These 360-degree rotating propellers (1x forward, 1x aft) provide the boat with greater manoeuvrability and berthing flexibility. Whether you cruise multiple times per year or you're new to cruising, the goal of Royal Caribbean Blog is for it to be a useful resource for keeping up to date with what's new and exciting with Royal Caribbean. American Cruise Lines resumes sailings on June 20

Harmony itinerary program features an Inaugural cruise season in Europe with Mediterranean itineraries and round-trip departures from Civitavecchia-Rome and Barcelona. Typically, wristbands are offered complimentary to all passengers. Junior Suite and above guests still receive the wristbands for free. The second vessel in American Cruise Line's "modern riverboat" series, American Harmony eschews the Mark Twain-esque aspects that have traditionally characterized Mississippi River cruises.

When Harmony of the Seas debuted in 2016, she was the largest cruise ship in the world. In the years since, she has been eclipsed barely by sister ship Symphony of the Seas. Despite losing the title of largest in the world, seeing Harmony of the Seas in person will reinforce the notion of how large the ship is. Harmony of the Seas left port (Saint-Nazaire) for the first time on March 10, 2016.

Over the span of the week, we alternated between staples, like the Prime Rib and the Pork Bao Buns, to new options like the Jerk Seasoned Pork Chop and the Chicken Marsala. Overall, we actually thought that the food was much better than the two previous experiences we had on Royal Caribbean ships in 2022. With current itineraries starting at six nights and sailing across the Caribbean, you’ll have plenty of time to explore all of the above during a Harmony of the Seas cruise. Gather around to watch Olympic-level high divers take to the skies, performing daring stunts and aerial acrobatics, before they dive straight into what’s the deepest pool at sea.

The following aerial photo shows an Oasis-class vessel (as looked from above). Follows the complete list of Harmony of the Seas lounges, clubs and other entertainment venues for kids, teens and adults. In addition, space for relaxing and lounging is provided on each level of the ship's four-story atrium, and a small library with destination-relevant books is situated all the way at the back of the ship on 2nd Deck. Cutoff jeans, shorts and swimwear are not permitted in the main dining room.

Your in-suite mini-refrigerator will be fully stocked and replenished throughout the week with juices, waters, white and red wine. Ft. of relaxing space, each Veranda suite provides the perfect balance of comfort and luxury. Be treated to a fruit and cheese plate when you arrive and cheers with a complimentary bottle of premium champagne as you begin your adventure. Considered one of the finest staterooms on any cruise ship, guests will enjoy full-size bathrooms and a large living area complete with sliding glass door. Your in-suite mini-refrigerator will be fully stocked and replenished throughout your cruise with juices, waters, white and red wine.

Jazz clubs converted to smoke-less casinos on 3 RCI-Royal Caribbean ships

Like any Royal Caribbean mega-ship, there were a variety of activities occurring morning, noon, and night. While the line is phasing out this specialty restaurant, this dinner was also delicious. The signature starters like the meat plank and calamari were fresh and flavorful.

The main pool is open to all cruisers and hosted classics like the the sexiest man competition. Aft of these pools is the sports pool, which was home to water volleyball and even dance classes. The family-friendly Splashaway Bay is a water play area for younger children located nearby the sports pool.

Featuring modern pop music, it is a show that doesn’t take itself too seriously as it recounts the tale of Marvin Columbus, a distant cousin to the famous Christopher. On the pool deck, classics like the International Belly Flop contest and sports competitions were regular occurrences. Pickleball players could rejoice as there were several open play hours and competitions on the sports deck during our trip. For those looking for other selections, Harmony of the Seas also features sushi and hibachi at Izumi on Deck 4.

Happily, for this Harmony of the Seas cruise ship review, we can report that the crew did a fantastic job keeping up with the requests of everyone onboard. This was by far the busiest cruise we have been on since the restart, but the service was still on point. Cruise Hive was established back in 2008 and among the earliest blogs in the industry. Since the start, it's been our aim to provide the latest cruise news covering all the major cruise lines. We make sure cruisers are fully prepared for their cruise vacation with tips on ships and ports.Millions of travelers rely on Cruise Hive in the United States, Europe, Australia, and around the world. Many cruise ships have waterslides now, but Harmony of the Seas was the first Royal Caribbean ship to boast one.

There is at least one complimentary option open at anytime during the day or night, with often quite a number of great choices. A common concern of new cruisers is the fear of a ship of this size feeling and/or getting crowded. While it might seem like a ship that has over five thousand passengers is bound to be consistently crowded, the reality is it rarely gets to a point like that. Royal Caribbean spent a lot of time working on strategies to make the ship feel quiet. The neighborhoods help with the flow of crowds, and the ship's reservation system integrates tightly with the dining and show management to control crowds. Lines can occur on any cruise ship, but they are rarely as awful as you might imagine on Harmony of the Seas.

Guests will find plenty of traditional cruise activities on Harmony of the Seas, such as trivia, bingo, enrichment classes and more. Most activities are complimentary to enjoy, but a few do carry an extra cost to them. Harmony of the Seas offers guest three multi-story water slides to enjoy. Known as The Perfect Storm, these slides are comprised of two racer slides and one champagne bowl slide. The slides descend three decks through a series of twists and turns over the ship’s tree-lined Central Park neighborhood 10 decks below. Generally speaking, there is usually a lot of events happening in or around the pools during the day.

In April of 2021, Royal Caribbean docked the ship in Cadiz, Spain, for some minor, routine refurbishments. However, this dry dock did not result in any major changes or enhancements. Harmony of the Seas took approximately three years to build, at STX France in St. Nazaire, France, before the ship set sail in European waters on May 29, 2016, following a christening by godmother Brittany Affolter. Another thing to note was that apparently there was an escape room onboard in The Puzzle Break near Adventure Ocean. However, I never saw it advertised, so I believe it is closed for the time being. The American River Cruise revolution continues with American Harmony, the second in American Cruise Lines’ highly anticipated series of contemporary, American riverboats.

Harmony Of The Seas Itinerary, Current Position, Ship Review Royal Caribbean

harmony cruise boat

This was our first time testing out the new selections, and we were eager to see how they compared. While there were plenty of options to choose from, none of them wowed us. We still stand by our claim that newer Carnival ships feature the best casual quick service spots. One thing we love about Royal Caribbean ships is that many onboard activities are included in the cruise fare. Most attractions are common staples found on the cruise line’s mega-ships. These include two Flowrider surf simulators and dueling rock climbing walls.

Veranda Suite Private Balcony

The staff onboard was excellent, the ship was in great condition, and the entertainment was superb. My friend and I had lots of fun together during our spring break cruise on Harmony of the Seas. I noticed that there is now a new pool and bar area right as you get off the ship. My friend had woken up early to get ready for her excursion in Costa Maya when she heard the ship announcement.

Port Galveston TX charts course for continued growth as new cruise ships set sail in 2024

The Izumi Restaurant features a la carte hibachi, teppanyaki and sushi menu. A total of 25 onboard dining options are available (14 are complimentary, including room-service). American Harmony's uppermost deck features open-air seating and plenty of viewing space for those who want to take in the sights and sounds of the Columbia and Snake rivers. With a clean and uncluttered layout reminiscent of a modern European river cruise ship, plenty of space is offered for guests looking to relax and enjoy a day of scenic cruising. Our new suite design allows for unprecedented comfort while traveling, beginning with the our Owner's Suites featuring 645 square feet of private space.

Signature Entertainment

The cabins are energy-efficient and equipped with power and USB outlets appreciated by cruisers who want to stay mobile connected. Speaking of being connected, Harmony of the Seas offers Royal Caribbean's Voom high speed internet, which means you can purchase an internet plan that allows full internet access throughout the ship. The other option you have is specialty dining, where there is an additional cost to dine. Specialty dining costs can come in the form of cover charges (pay one fee and get all the food included) or a la carte charges (pay for only what you order).

Instead, virtual balcony staterooms feature a large screen along one wall that projects the real-time view of the outdoors. The American Harmony is a modern riverboat built  in the U.S.A. in 2019. Staying true to the American Cruise Lines’ small ship point of view, all 187 guests aboard the American Harmony will enjoy large staterooms, luxury common areas, and the best locally-inspired cuisine. Every night, dinner was incredibly fast - faster than other ships I have recently been on.

harmony cruise boat

You’ll definitely not go hungry, even if you want to eat on the cheap. However, if you do want to splurge on specialty dining, you have plenty of options there, too. Virtual balcony staterooms are cool, in their way, but do note that you won’t get that real balcony feel with one of these staterooms.

ACL-American Cruise Lines launches 2022 Columbia & Snake River cruise season

Other cruise staples like dance classes, art auctions, arts and crafts, karaoke, and some upcharge sessions occurred regularly throughout the week as well. Throughout the day and early evening, there were plenty of trivia sessions. We rocked it at the 90’s Name that Tune session to win coveted Royal Caribbean pens. Although, we didn’t fair as well in the standing room only Star Wars trivia. Rob, from the activities staff, was a true fan as his questions were definitely unique.

In comparison to the sisterships Allure and Oasis, Harmony OTS is heavier by 1700+ tons, 3+ meters wider, and able to accommodate 100 more passengers. American Harmony doesn't cater to families with children specifically, and no special areas for kids or teenagers are available onboard. A handful of children might be seen on summer or holiday sailings but, by-and-large, this is a cruise experience geared towards mature adults. Additionally, our balcony offered plenty of space for the two chairs and small table. Unfortunately, Royal Caribbean has reduced service for most cabin categories to once daily. Still, Darius, our stateroom attendant, made us feel right at home fulfilling all our requests and making sure our room was promptly tidied up.

After flying into HOU, I decided to stay at a hotel in League City. Hotels in Galveston are quite expensive so I chose not to stay there, although it would’ve been convenient for embarkation day. This was my second time cruising out of Galveston, Texas, so I had an idea of what to expect this time around. I invited my friend to join me on this Western Caribbean sailing, and we had an absolute blast on this fun-filled ship. While we were excited to visit Mexico and Honduras, Harmony of the Seas is a destination in and of itself that we were excited to explore.

This venue features a well-balanced Jalapeno-Cucumber Margarita, which I enjoyed especially during the Cinco de Mayo Weekend. We were fond of Luca in the Boot and Bonnet pub playing classic acoustic music. Justin in the Schooner Bar was a lively piano player as well, mixing in humor and even some beat boxing for an entertaining time. There was also the house band, A-Groove Band, in Dazzles and the Latin Heat in Boleros for those wanting to dance.

No, they’ve given you multiple, amazing water slides to choose from. On the first night of the cruise, I utilized my Diamond Plus BOGO offer which allowed me to purchase one specialty restaurant dinner and receive complimentary dining for a second guest. This offer can only be used on the first or second night of the cruise, so my friend and I decided to start the cruise off right with dinner at Jamie’s Italian. Two Sun Decks (Lower on Deck 5-aft, and Upper on Deck 6) are fitted with sunbathing and shaded seating areas, putting green, deck-game area (shuffleboard). The Upper Sun Deck (top-deck) is furnished with comfortable deckchairs and has 3 shaded seating areas plus one SkyLight (glass-roof cover). Royal Caribbean wanted to wow its guest with the breadth of activities on Harmony of the Seas, which include some options that are exclusive to Royal Caribbean.

Also added to Harmony is the modern Mexican restaurant Sabor, recently added to Allure and Freedom of the Seas. Harmony of the Seas features a multi-deck water slide area that is a first for Royal Caribbean. It is also the first Oasis-class ship with robot bartenders serving drinks in the Bionic Bar, a concept that debuted in 2014 on Quantum of the Seas. Harmony has bigger cabins than Allure and Oasis in some categories, and windowless interior cabins outfitted with Virtual Balconies, offering a real-time view of the outdoors (first debuted in 2014 on Navigator of the Seas). Particularly noteworthy are the two Grand Suites that measure 900 square feet apiece and include balconies that wrap around the stern of the ship, offering 270-degree views of the Mississippi River. These suites also boast separate living and sleeping areas with floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

800 square feet of unprecedented luxury, including wraparound private balcony and room for a small cocktail party or private dinner. The American Harmony will also feature a 4-story glass-enclosed Atrium with a large skylight in the center of the boat. In our experience, guests eat most of their meals at the Windjammer Marketplace, main dining room, Park Cafe or Mini Bites. These four complimentary restaurants provide meals throughout the day and offer a good variety of food. A complimentary restaurant is included with your cruise fare and you pay nothing extra to eat there. You may enjoy as much food as you like from these locations, and no limit on how many times you can visit.

There is a lot to see and do on Harmony of the Seas, and walking around the ship will quickly provide a good understanding of where things are relative to each other, plus there is a lot of great things to discover. Art, activities, live music, decor and more are found in all the neighborhoods. Fun fact is that this RCI ship has a namesake - the 2011-launched "COSCO Harmony".

The Main Lounge is located all the way forward overlooking the ship's bow, while a secondary lounge (known as the Sky Lounge) is situated one deck up, all the way at the rear of the ship. American Harmony has two comfortable lounges where lectures, presentations and onboard entertainment are delivered daily. With another Oasis Class cruise in a few months, we look forward to more Royal Caribbean mega-ship cruising.

The ramp has an innovative design being constructed as a retractable gangway (passenger bridge). The technology is often implemented on some of the largest ferries and features an opening bow door. While the casual dining on Royal Caribbean does lack a bit, the main dining room and specialty restaurants exceeded our expectations. From the service, to the food preparation, taste, and presentation, this was some of the best dining we have had since the restart. That is really saying something for a ship that holds over 5,000 passengers.

9+ Day Cruises

9 months cruise

Right before Thanksgiving, she gave notice to her job to reduce her hours and work remotely. "It's balancing normal life things when you’re in a cool spot and trying to balance how to make the most time when you’re in a new place," Linderman said. She said she wouldn't force herself to be the first person to disembark and the last to return to the ship. Still, Linderman doesn't want to burn out on such a long trip and still anticipates those "low" days that happen in regular life on land. With 650 guests on board, Royal Caribbean's Ultimate World Cruise departed from Miami on Dec. 10.

Set a course for the north

Guests had the option to book the entire 274 night voyage, or hop on for smaller segments. "This is the world cruise of world cruises," said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. "To travelers asking themselves where they should go next, we say everywhere." "I think that it is surprising out there to people that there's so many on the younger side who are on the cruise," she explained. "I think that's really resonating with people or gathering their attention, maybe."

Month 1 highlights — December to January

“I made an Ultimate World Cruise Bingo card for anyone else who is buckling in for this nine months TikTok reality show,” user @whimsysoul shared in a video posted shortly after the ship’s voyage began. For people tracking the day-to-day lives of cruise ship passengers, many have predicted that the 9-month trip has the potential for drama equivalent to or even larger than a reality TV series production. After all, the footage being streamed on TikTok is created and edited by real people, not a major network. Several passengers have been documenting their voyages on a day-to-day basis and sharing their videos on TikTok.

Best Time to Go on a Cruise

She found places on the ship she loved, developed a better understanding of her room, and learned the ins and outs of vacationing on a ship, she said. Linderman booked a solo room on the ship, and her brother's family reserved a cabin, too. She's focused on building "good habits and good routines," including going to the gym in the morning and working on sea days.

The 274-day itinerary was scheduled to stop in more than 60 countries, including Antarctica, China, Oman, Spain, Mexico and French Polynesia. Royal Caribbean passengers who want to check in online whilst at sea face hefty daily charges, as Joshua and Ina have discovered. The firm's VOOM on board internet packages charge guests $25.99 per day, with Joshua having so far paid $332 (£266) in WiFi charges, less than half way through the trip.

The Most Epic World Cruise Ever To Set Sail

If you wanted the full 274-night trip, prices were between $53,999 per person to $117,599 per person. As is the case with so many things on social media, the spectacle for viewers is more interesting than the subject matter and a lot of comments have speculated on what might happen during the voyage. People watching on TikTok seem quite intrigued by the idea of spending that long on a cruise ship, and it almost seemed like a reality show to viewers. The interest began with passengers onboard sharing what it's like to live on a cruise ship for almost an entire year.

9 months cruise

Anyone that's been on a cruise ship would tell you these sort of things happen. In the lead up the world cruise, a number of people booked on the cruise started publishing videos about the cruise and used the #RoyalCaribbeanUltimateWorldCruise hashtag. Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas kicked off the world cruise on December 10 from Miami, and she will spend 274-nights traversing the world with hundreds of people onboard for the entire transit. Peak season for Western Mediterranean cruises runs from April through November, with stops generally in Spain, France, Italy and Malta. The Canary Islands and the warmer Eastern Mediterranean (Croatia, the Balkan countries, Greece and Turkey) welcome cruises between April and December, with a sprinkling of winter cruises from select lines.

May and September can also be great times to cruise Alaska if you'd like to save a little money. Whale watching is good in both months, as gray and humpback whales migrate to and from the state. Other wildlife will also start to emerge from their winter slumbers in May or be in the middle of mating season in September. If you're after peak wildlife viewing in Alaska, though, high season is the best time to cruise the state. Bears, whales, salmon and caribou are far more abundant June through August than at other times of year. There are also numerous festivals in the port towns during the summer.

Joshua, from Vancouver, Canada, has had to pay the significant wifi costs regularly on board to post TikToks of his trip, where he's gained 15,000 followers since boarding. A large number of TikTok influencers have boarded the 960ft Serenade of the Seas – with Terry adding that the constant filming and posting on social media has become a slightly sensitive subject on board. The cruise is currently in the honeymoon phase, in which a Belgian waffle for breakfast every morning still sounds like a good idea and the crossing of the Drake Passage is yet to come. I think I’ll be putting my money on “old couple splits up” or “mystery illness rips through the ship.” In any case, I will be tuned in.

The first traverses North America and South America over 67 nights and includes stops in Brazil, the Caribbean and Antarctica. A spokesperson for Royal Caribbean Cruises did not immediately respond to NBC News’ request for comment regarding the rumors, as well as the virality of the cruise itself. For little_rat_brain, another passenger, the cruise functioned as a little life intermission, while also serving her travel goals. Brandee Lake worked in marketing and advertisement and lived in Los Angeles, California, before the trip. Shannon Lake runs her own consulting business and plans to work remotely from the ship while making up her own hours. World cruises aren't new, but this is the first one that Royal Caribbean has done and being a mainstream cruise line, the attention it's generating may be related to the fact it's more approachable than on smaller lines.

Although she has traveled extensively and lived abroad, Linderman went on her first cruise after booking the world cruise and surprisingly enjoyed herself. "It was nice to have those moments when I was recovering and not myself to know this trip was happening and to be looking forward to all those experiences." Now in her mid-30s, there was no time like the present to see the world. "I’ve always really loved to travel and always wanted that to be how I spend my time and money," she said. Her genetic predisposition made her aware that for some people, "someday may never happen, (so) I should do all the things I want to do now," Linderman said. There was briefly a moment where we thought there might be swingers on the ship, when a woman and her husband put a pineapple (a symbol used by swingers to flag other swingers) on their door.

Some of these users, many deeming themselves as The Ultimate Real World Cruise cast, have started to hang out with each other on the ship and post content together. As user @megseestheworld notes, the entire experience reminds her of an episode of "Suite Life on Deck" when the sea days repeat themselves, a similar vibe to the movie "Groundhog Day." TikTok users have become highly invested in the cruise's passengers, likening them to a cast of characters that would typically appear on a reality show. The 9-month-long cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate World Cruise captured the attention of social media towards the end of last year. “A guest sailing onboard Serenade of the Seas has sadly passed away,” a Royal Caribbean spokesperson shared in a statement to NBC News Feb. 13.

"I'm going to buy the craziest, most disco ball-y kind of dress to celebrate," she promised herself at the time. It struck Linderman how her parents died around the age people usually retire and finally take the time to cross items off their bucket lists. Besides Royal Caribbean, operators like Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Azamara also operate world cruises, albeit more expensive and much shorter. But there have been some suggestions that people of different backgrounds might be experiencing different treatment on the ship.

That's what makes travel so compelling, because you're exposed to different cultures and get to meet new people. In short, the people sailing on the world cruise are just like the people on pretty much any other Royal Caribbean cruise. The price for the full 274-nights was between $53,999 per person to $117,599 per person. Suffice to say, the inside room was closer to the low end of that range. The comments are also a hot bed of people that have never cruised and/or Never Cruisers that like to share their opinion on why cruising is silly.
